Assistant Professor (Fisheries Oceanographer), University of Hawaii Manoa

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain a vigorous extramurally supported, collaborative research program that complements existing expertise in the department and con inform Pacific island fisheries management and economies
  • Conduct outstanding classroom teaching and mentoring of students in the graduate Oceanography and undergraduate Global Environmental Science programs
  • Develop and teach a new course for the new graduate Fisheries program
  • Facilitate cross-campus collaborations and research {including with other collaborative fisheries hire faculty)
  • Provide service to the department, school, university, and larger scientific and fisheries community

  • Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications A doctorate {at the time of appointment) from a college or university of recognized standing and in a field relevant to the position. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrative capability for conducting fisheries oceanographic research. Demonstrated ability as a teacher. Demonstrated scholarly achievement. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others. Ability to effectively teach and mentor a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.
