The College of Agriculture seeks applicants for a Research Assistant! This position will provide professional support for several research projects focused on the abiotic and biotic factors mediating freshwater harmful algal blooms in aquaculture ponds and drinking water and recreational reservoirs. Essential Functions
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Participate in field sampling; conduct lab analyses (i.e., molecular analyses (qPCR), analytical chemistry (GC-MS), algal pigments (chlorophyll), nutrients); ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintain inventory and order supplies; and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related at the time employment begins; no experience required. Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position. Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 4 years of experience relevant to the position. Substitutions Allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities Knowledge/experience with lab water quality analyses, such as analytical chemistry tools like GC-MS, and molecular analyses, such as qPCR. Minimum Technology Skills Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite. Minimum License and Certifications Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications Prior coursework in limnology and statistics desired.
