Science Assistant, Ocean Sciences Section, National Science Foundation (NSF)

The Ocean Sciences Section, composed of the Biological Oceanography (BO) and Physical Oceanography (PO) Programs, is looking to hire a Science Assistant. The Science Assistant will work with the BO and PO Program Officers, as well as others in the Division of Ocean Sciences, providing service of value to the Programs while simultaneously developing an understanding of key aspects of the science and engineering enterprise that will be valuable to a future professional career in science or government. Science Assistants help to manage the Program’s merit review process including panels and award oversight activities. They also participate in other Program activities including report preparation, data management & data analysis, working with other parts of NSF and other government agencies, and exchanging information with the scientific research community. Opportunities are also available for training and career development.

The preferred start date is August 2023, and the position will be for a maximum duration of two years. Pay grade/scale: AD-01. Salary range: $40,883 – $97,439
