Training and Engagement Coordinator, Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve

We are seeking a Wildlife Communications Specialist to serve as the Training and Engagement Coordinator for the Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Old Woman Creek Training and Engagement Program’s mission is to enhance the stewardship and sustainability of Lake Erie by providing science-based training and technical assistance to coastal decision-makers within the Lake Erie watershed. The Program strives to fulfill this mission by providing science-based training and technical assistance, and by facilitating collaborative partnerships to meet the needs of stormwater and watershed professionals, natural resource managers, land use planners, and others who make decisions that affect habitat quality in Lake Erie and its tributaries.
What you will do…
• Act as a liaison between the scientific and resource management communities to ensure that coastal decision makers have access to the latest science that can inform their work and decision-making, and that scientists understand and consider management needs in developing and advancing their research agendas.
• Design, market, and deliver in-person and virtual training events (workshops, courses, seminars, conferences, webinars, etc.) to enhance decision-maker understanding of scientific information and current best management practices by providing access to science-based training and tools.
• Conduct audience needs assessment and market analyses when appropriate to ensure program offerings meet the needs of target audiences and that the program stays relevant and nimble.
• Work with other staff to create science translation products such as brochures, videos, fact sheets, etc., including the development of web-based materials.
• Design and facilitate stakeholder engagement discussions and processes.

- Qualifications: • Graduate degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resource, wildlife, etc. • Proven ability to work effectively with scientists, local, state, and federal government officials, civic volunteers, business persons, environmental non-profits, coastal managers, and policymakers. • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills • Meeting facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills. • Ability to analyze, interpret, and translate science to different coastal decision-maker groups. • Ability to creatively design high-quality training scenarios that attract coastal decision-makers and deliver meaningful information. • Ability to effectively plan and manage projects. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and stay abreast of research in multiple disciplines. • Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
